Discover whether a fire table can double as a dining table, including key safety and height considerations, and when the Lanai Fire Table fits the bill.
Quick answer
Yes, you can use a fire table as a dining table, but only if it meets standard dining height (28–30 inches) and you follow key safety practices to avoid burns or damage.
Height matters for comfort
Standard dining tables sit 28–30 inches high. Many fire tables, especially those designed for lounging, are lower (around 20 inches). Using a low fire table for dining forces awkward posture. The Lanai Fire Table, with its robust base and stone top, is built at a height that works for both entertaining and casual dining, making it a versatile choice.
Heat and surface safety
A fire table generates significant radiant heat. Placing plates, glasses, or food directly over the flame can cause burns or damage. Always keep flammable items at least 3 feet from the fire source. Use the stone top as a stable serving surface, but never cook directly on the fire table unless it is specifically rated for cooking.
Verdicts on using a fire table for dining
- Is it safe?: Yes, with precautions. Keep food and people at least 3 feet from the flame, use the stone top as a serving area, and never place flammable items near the fire.
- Is it comfortable?: Only if the fire table is at standard dining height (28–30 inches). Lower tables force poor posture and are better suited for lounging. Measure your fire table height before planning a meal around it.
- Is the Lanai Fire Table suitable?: Yes, its durable stone top and robust base allow it to function as a dining surface for casual outdoor meals, provided you follow safety guidelines. Check the table's height and heat output before use.
